About Us
The Families
We’re Ilan (pronounced “ee-lahn”) and Tori. We’re the proud owners of K&J Heating and Cooling. We didn’t start it though. So how did this all come about?
Way back in 1998, two union Journeymen and best friends - Kip and Jeff - started their own HVAC business. Kip’s wife Linda ran the show. Her brother Jimmy joined the team, as did many other friends and family throughout the years. When it was time to retire, they weren’t interested in selling to private equity - instead, they looked around for a new family to take over and shepherd the business they lovingly built into the next generation. Enter the Cohens.
Ilan runs the day to day. Tori uses her career in responsible business and communications to support our strategy and growth. Don - Tori’s dad and career heating & air engineer - joined the team to manage the shop. He also feeds us and picks the boys up from school. Nick, a lifelong pal, came on to manage installs. Laura does double duty answering phones and coloring with the kids on sick days. We may or may not have a cat tree in our conference room.
The point is, this shop was started by real people and is still run by real people now. We love animals and each other and talk too much about business at Sunday dinners because we care about the work we do for you. We can’t wait to get to know you!
